Escale Armorique, what is it ? How does it work ?

In the heart of tourist areas, certain service providers have chosen to unite and form a group of professionals called “ESCALE ARMORIQUE”.
These professionals have decided to work together as a network, accentuating their complementary nature instead of competing against each other.
Through this network, tourism professionals get to know each other, exchange information, share experiences, and find out « who does what » within the same area. It thus becomes possible to pool ideas and resources together for combined projects which would not have been possible for service providers acting in an isolated manner.
One common objective : increasing the number of visitors in the off-season. This grouping of professionals is placed in a more competitive way on the tourist services market. Their common actions notably concern promotion, communication, theme activity offers, sharing experiences and know-how.
It also aims, for example, to reach a clientele made up of groups and short stopovers, and to work according to specific themes (hiking, nature sports, seminars, families, the disabled…).
The wide variety of service provider members lets them be more responsive and adapt in a personalized way to diverse clientele.
Examples of collective actions : Publishing theme brochures (nature walks, group activities), making posters regrouping all members, publishing an internal phone book, creating weekend and short stopover packages (weekend offer accessible to those with reduced mobility, multi-activities stopover, weekend for two,…), participating in diverse trade shows, group mailings…

Group services : the “Escale Armorique” coordinator proposes a free personalized service destined for group trip and excursion organizers. This provides an intermediary whose knowledge of the terrain and practical advice will make preparing your trip easier.
An intermediary acknowledged by tourism institutions and communities : “Escale Armorique” permits its members to be represented as economic actors in their areas through a structured process coming from an official organization. An original quality approach : One of the components of the quality charter signed by each member upon adhering to the group is dedicated to the environment, with commitments concerning water consumption or waste recycling, for example. Every year, group members benefit from free consciousness-raising activities : nature outings, information about themes linked to sustainable tourism…

How does it work ? Any tourism professional, in the private sector, organizations or clubs, can join. All that’s needed is a strong motivation to work within a network. Meetings are held before each school vacation period. At the end of the meeting, this confirms which service providers are open for business and what events, if any, will be held during that time. This information is then passed on to the OTSI and the press.
The meetings are held at a network member’s establishment. It’s an opportunity for professionals to visit other businesses. Different questions of the meeting agenda are addressed in a friendly atmosphere, and decisions are made by the majority of the people present.
Everyone can freely express opinions, suggest actions to take or subjects for consideration. After each meeting, the minutes are sent to all members.
The annual membership fee is 150€. This amount covers most of the actions taken (publishing brochures, diverse projects).
